Jaroff Studio is Bhavani and Joe Jaroff’s latest creation: a pioneering firm that helps building owners, architects, and interior designers make powerful statements with their spaces. The firm works with a variety of materials, specializing in metal and glass. Their first company, Mison Concepts, Inc., was founded by Joe Jaroff 40 years ago and gained a worldwide reputation for designing, making, and installing one-of-a-kind pieces– grand staircases, lighting, sculptures, marquees, and other inspired works that make spaces memorable. Bhavani joined the company in 2001, becoming his Vice President. In 2003, Bhavani branched off to start Jaroff Custom Entryways, and Joe became her Vice President. As of 2020, they merged the two companies, and are now known as Jaroff Studio. It's important to note that Jaroff Studio is a certified WBE (Woman-Owned Business Enterprise) Company, holding certifications in both New York State and New York City.

Jaroff Studio works with clients on every aspect of a project, from conception to installation. Bhavani and Joe have the rare gift of innate artistic talent combined with technical expertise on how various materials behave and perform over time. Their even rarer gift is the ability to listen respectfully to clients, to understand their deepest aspirations for their spaces, and to help them realize that vision. For these reasons, Jaroff Studio has been a coveted collaborator with top architects such as Tony Chi, Herzog & De Meuron, Richard Gluckmann, Peter Marino, Toshiko Mori, Polshek Partnership Architects, Ennead Architects, S.O.M., Phillipe Stark, Adam Tihany, Annabelle Selldorf, Andrew Berman and The Rockwell Group, among many others. They work closely with property owners and architects to create staircases, walkways, doorways, and other striking elements that are part of the overall vision for the space.

Their fashion clients have included showrooms and flagship locations for Armani, Issey Miyake, Alexander McQueen, Ralph Lauren, Donna Karan, Stella McCartney, Barneys, Louis Vuitton, Van Cleef & Arpels, YSL, and Chanel. Fine dining clientele have seen their work at Asiate, Le Cirque, The Sea Grill, 11 Madison Avenue, Bruno’s Wine Club, Casa Cruz Club, and the Hudson Hotel Bar. Cultural clients include Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Guggenheim Museum, MOMA PS1, and the New York City Center.

In addition to such notable public spaces as the September 11th Memorial for the City of Hoboken, the New York Public Library, and Waterline Square in New York City, some of the work they are most proud of has been in more private settings: creating spaces for students to inspire education at The Ross School in East Hampton, and custom designs for private residences across the United States.

Bhavani received her BFA in Woodworking and Sculpture from the School of Art and Design at SUNY Purchase, and her Master’s Degree in Education from Antioch New England. Although she had planned on teaching Art Education to high school students, her career path changed when she met her future husband, Joe. They have enjoyed collaborating on projects and merging their creative talents to benefit their clients.

Joe received a BFA in Metalwork and Sculpture from Rochester Institute of Technology’s prestigious School for American Crafts and studied Art History at Harvard University. As a student, he received several grants for public art projects, including from the National Endowment for the Arts and New York State Council for the Arts. After graduating, Joe moved to New York City to pursue an art career. He supplemented his income with architectural metal and glass design and fabrication work for contractors and commissioned projects. This early work helped Joe realize he could fill an unrecognized need within the building and arts community by blending his skill sets as a designer, fabricator, coordinator, and project orchestrator.

Jaroff Studio has become an ‘in-demand’ partner for architects, designers, and contractors. The newest phase of their business, launched in early 2020, focuses on the design phase of bringing new spaces to life. Their role will be to collaborate with property owners, architects, and other members of the creative team early in the process; to design pieces that make the desired statement; and to specify materials that will ensure trouble-free, cost-effective installation and lasting visual impact and durability.
